Chatbot
The MyFoodTrackr chatbot understands natural language. Here are the functions it can perform and examples of what to type to trigger each one.
Get the List of Commands
Ask the chatbot to list its commands and it will reply with a dynamic list of all available functions and example phrases for each.
Try saying:
- “What commands do you have?”
- “What commands can you do?”
- “What can I ask you to do?”
- “List your commands”
- “Show me your commands”
Log a Food Entry
Tell the chatbot what you ate and it will search the databases, find the food, select the right measure, and log it to your food diary.
Try saying:
- “I ate a chicken breast for lunch”
- “I had 2 slices of whole wheat bread”
- “I consumed 1 cup of rice for dinner”
- “I drank a glass of orange juice”
- “Log a breakfast entry for today”
- “Yesterday I ate a bowl of cereal”
Correct a Logged Food Entry
After logging food, the chatbot may ask you to verify the match when it is not fully confident. You can fix a logged entry by sending a follow-up message in the chat. The chatbot will search again using your corrected description and update today’s matching log entry.
Use either format below. The part before should be helps identify which entry to update; the part after is the food you want instead. Be as specific as you can about preparation (for example, with skin vs without skin) so the right database item is chosen.
Try saying:
- “large cosmic crisp apple should be apples, raw, with skin”
- “2 slices of toast should be 2 slices of white bread, toasted”
- “correction: chicken breast should be chicken, broilers or fryers, breast, meat only, roasted”
- “correction: 1 cup milk should be milk, fluid, partly skimmed, 2% M.F.”
Log Coffee
Log coffee with your usual milk, cream, and sugar preferences. Works with sizes and common orders like double-doubles.
Try saying:
- “I had a coffee”
- “I had a Tim's double-double”
- “Large double-double this morning”
- “Black coffee for breakfast”

Tell the chatbot your weight and it will save it to your profile. Supports both kilograms and pounds.

- “I weigh 75 kg”
- “My weight is 168 lbs today”
- “I weighed 72.5 kg yesterday”
- “My current weight is 180 pounds”
Find and Add a Food to My Foods
If a food is not in the databases, the chatbot can search the web for nutrition data and save it to My Foods. You can also paste a product URL from MyFoodData or a store site and the chatbot will import nutrition facts from that page, including serving size when available.
Try saying:
- “Find and add to My Foods nutritional yeast”
- “Add organic flaxseed to my foods”
- “Save hemp seeds to my foods”

Try saying:
- “How many calories in a banana?”
- “Tell me about the nutrition of salmon”
- “Show me the nutritional value of 1 cup of rice”
- “How much protein in 100g of chicken?”
Nutrient Consumption Checks
Ask how much of a nutrient you have consumed from your food log for a given day, or request a full summary of all nutrients logged that day. For calorie questions, the chatbot also reports your daily calorie target and how far over or under you are.
